A chapter-by-chapter tour of the product: signing in, setting the North Star, capturing and scoring work, the Kanban board, hand-offs, focus, time away, check-ins, chat, meetings, the AI Chief of Staff, the Ledger, Org Collective and Org Library, results, recognition, reviews, and the manager and admin pages.
Alygn has no passwords — you sign in with a link we email you. Once you’re in, the left sidebar is your map: Contributors for your everyday work, Tools, Managers if you manage people or hold a manager role, and Admin if you run the workspace. Only one group is open at a time, so the menu shows just what applies to you.
Everything in Alygn hangs off your company’s goals. Spend two minutes here first — once you can see the goals and how work links to them, every score and suggestion makes sense.
Adding a task takes seconds, and Alygn scores each one against your goals within about a minute of saving — so what matters is obvious before you start.
Open any task to find everything in one place: its steps, notes, files, the goal it serves, and the buttons that move it forward.
Prefer to see your work in columns? The Kanban board shows the same tasks as My Tasks three ways — by stage, by the goal each one serves, and by what you’ll do now, next and later. It’s switched on per workspace: if there’s no List | Kanban switch on My Tasks, it isn’t on for your workspace yet.
When something needs a teammate, don’t drop it in a chat and hope. A hand-off carries the context, the deadline and a clear yes or no — and Alygn follows it until it lands, on the other person’s working day.
Goal-linked work still needs time to get done. Focus clears the screen, runs a timer and, if you want one, gives you an AI assistant that already knows the task.
The focus assistant does more than answer questions. Give it a file and an instruction and it will build the document, deck or spreadsheet, check its own numbers, look things up on the web and keep the sources, and even work through a website with you. It shows you what it plans to do, and nothing that sends, saves or submits happens until you say yes. These powers are switched on per workspace — if the assistant only chats, ask your admin.
A short daily update on what you got done and what’s next, and one page that shows how your team is doing — who’s stuck, who’s gone quiet, and who’s fine. (Not to be confused with Check-ins for managers — the one-to-ones covered later.)
Alygn needs to know which days you work. Set them once, add leave or days off in one place, and your reminders, hand-off clocks and manager all follow. There is no approval step in Alygn — agreeing leave stays with your usual process. Time away is switched on per workspace: if there’s no My working time in your Account settings, it isn’t on for your workspace yet. Out-of-office from a connected calendar is picked up either way.
A fast, familiar place to talk — channels, direct messages, threads, calls and a daily status. It’s switched on per workspace: if there’s no Team Chat in your sidebar, it isn’t on for your workspace yet.
Alygn can join your calls, take the notes, and turn what people agreed into tracked tasks — so “I’ll send that over” actually happens.
An assistant that knows your tasks, goals, meetings and calendar — so its help is about your work, not generic advice. It isn’t part of the Starter plan. Once your profile is complete and your calendar is connected, it writes you a daily brief; chatting with it happens in Team Chat, where your workspace has that switched on.
As you work with the AI in Focus, it remembers useful things — about you, your past work, your team and your role. Your Ledger is where you see all of it, and every entry is yours to keep, fix or forget. It’s switched on per workspace and isn’t part of the Starter plan: if there’s no Your Ledger under Tools, it isn’t on for your workspace yet.
Everything the company’s AI has learned — decisions, know-how, documents and how they connect — becomes one living map. Search it, ask it a question, or just explore. It only ever shows what you’re allowed to see, and it’s switched on per workspace and isn’t part of the Starter plan.
Policies, SOPs, how-to guides and templates, all in one place — and the Org Collective learns from every published document, so answers can point straight to the right section. It’s switched on per workspace and isn’t part of the Starter plan: if there’s no Org Library in your sidebar, it isn’t on for your workspace yet.
Every email that needs your reply, ranked by how much it actually matters — not by whoever wrote last. Draft replies, turn emails into tasks, snooze what can wait, and watch the list empty out. It’s switched on per workspace, isn’t part of the Starter plan, and needs your mailbox connected.
The email you send to clients holds promises and decisions the company should know about. Email logging files it in the Org Collective for you and turns what you promised into tasks — and tells you what it did. It’s switched on per workspace, and needs Your Ledger to see it.
Extend Alygn with apps built for it — install one from the directory, or build your own. It’s switched on per workspace.
All that goal-linked work adds up. My Results turns it into a clear picture of how you’re doing — filterable by period, and ready to export.
Points on the board come from the work the organisation says matters — goal-linked work, check-ins, focus time, fast hand-offs and kudos. Being seen and doing useful work become the same thing.
When someone finishes work you handed them, you say how it went in one tap — and your verdict counts in their review. Some workspaces also have the full Feedback Rail: one place for praise and course-corrections whenever they come up.
No once-a-year surprises. When your manager starts your review, you each fill in mirrored forms backed by real evidence, meet to talk it through, and agree a written version you both sign. Reviews are switched on per workspace.
After reviews, managers get a clear talent picture: performance against potential, in a 3×3 grid with named, actionable cells. It’s never shown to the person under review.
Regular one-to-ones with each person you manage, kept on their check-in file — a lasting record of what you discussed and agreed, with recap letters to close the loop. Check-ins are switched on per workspace: if there’s no Check-ins under Managers, it isn’t on for your workspace yet.
If anyone reports to you on the org chart, Alygn writes you a short digest of your team every work day and a fuller one each week — what needs a decision, who needs a hand, and how the goals your team moves are going. It’s built from updates and work already in Alygn, so nobody fills anything in.
One dashboard for how your team is actually doing — activity, engagement and hand-offs — plus the queue for approving the goals your team sets for themselves. It’s switched on per workspace.
A little setup goes a long way. Admins set the goals, invite the organisation and decide who can do what — everyone else gets a system that already fits.
Four admin pages that turn the organisation’s real work into evidence — a board report, a company-wide results report, a full record of what the AI did, and the searchable memory behind it all. Each is switched on per workspace.
Most companies have an AI policy that lives in a document nobody checks. Alygn turns yours into rules it checks whenever someone uses AI here, and lets you decide who may use which AI features and what the AI may read. It’s for admins, and switched on per workspace: if there’s no AI Policy under Admin, it isn’t on for you yet.
Keep track of what needs you, make Alygn yours, and know where to turn when you’re stuck.
